SOE announced they would be shutting down some servers now that most characters have already left them. My old home, Bloodfin is NOT one of them. Here is the list of servers that are shutting down on October 15, 2009, at 5:00 PM PT:

Weird. Some of the servers in the list I recall as being quite popular. At least Bloodfin lives on!

bloodfin is still one the lively and conflicted servers. SOE claims the shutdown is help add to these features of their booming servers. AKA the game is 6 years old and SWTOR is coming ;)
